If we’re going to need a revolution, we are going to have to organize and plan. Round up masterminds who know how to strategize, who to target, how to do it, when and where. I don’t believe we are going to have midterm elections. So we should probably start recruiting for the patriots who want to save what’s left of this country. And we need a ton of money to buy resources. We need to get moving! My 2 cents…..

It's so hard to know the right thing to do. My younger brother and I were the main ones taking care of things for my mom. We both worked so Sunday had become visiting days long before she had to go to assisted living. It made it easier. But that medicaid thing! Why is it so stupid? Good luck! Hope your dad settles in quickly.

The illustration at the top of the article must be merched. Read The Art of War. It’s invaluable in dealing with these vermin. And remember there’s room for all types of contributions; don’t shame folks who aren’t street protesters. Behind the scenes and grass roots activists are equally as important as sign bearers. Rev King readily acknowledged the essential contribution of Ralph David Abernathy. And others like Rev Hosea Williams. This is yet another lesson we may learn from Dr King.

I’ll bet there’s an appropriate DonaldDuck cartoon from the 1940’s that would hit the mark concerning whatshiname being dethroned….

I honestly believe that ‘47 will not survive to the midterms. I can’t guess how or when, but “the powers that be” will take over once it becomes clear that he is too out-of-control to remain in power.

As little as I think of his #2, I think he would be better in the seat!

One of the first things that needs to happen is to get the Project 2025 puppet masters out from behind the curtain. Although the information was out there in plenty of time before the election, it was a big document for an undereducated population. Now that people are starting to connect the dots it may be a good time to provide some fact based, reading level appropriate, information. Seems to be a formula that is working well for many such as Bernie and AOC, and non-republican speakers showing up at town halls. I don’t know what the answer is, but it helps me to think about things from multiple perspectives.

When the Regime first fired up the bellows back in February and March, I intuitively had a bad, bad feeling about our trajectory. It seemed clear that we were sleepwalking into an ambush and that it would only end up in blood and secession at best. The country’s ennui in the face of it left me gobsmacked. Many countries would’ve gone batshit by now - and R-klans would’ve gone bananas if the powers were reversed. And…Having attended 4 rallies, joining groups to resist and seeing how most “nice, white people” are STILL too afraid to risk losing something to gain something (they are non-participators), I am drifting back to my intuitive hackles up vibe. I feel flickers of hope at times, but there is too much inaction from the masses. Folks don’t realize they are like the people in the Pink Floyd video riding the conveyer belt into the meat grinder. Therefore, your question is relevant, and most voices are afraid to even raise it. The autocracy is going to get worse and worse. At what point will Americans find their strength to resist at all costs, when all non-violent options fail, and consider fighting per the recommendation of the Constitution? I don’t know if they will? But I intuit there will not be free/fair elections in 2026. (This election was rigged per ETA analysis - thus the Elon/Dump partnership - federal contracts, AI data mining and Starlink contracts for tariff relief in exchange for an election guarantee.) Ruth Ben-Ghiat said that when a Strongman returns to power after hiatus it is a revenge and consolidation tour to guarantee there will never be jail time. I think things will get violent. I have long thought it would be an irony if 2A helps save us, a trap door left by the founders. Today’s SCOTUS ruling makes it clear that ITS JUST US. No former leaders. No branches of government. Just the citizens. A psychic channel predicted last summer that: 1. She saw the US breaking up into different regions, 2. Trump dying from what seemed like a stroke, and 3. Pete B becoming president at some point in the future. I can definitely see 1 and 2. Would be nice if 3 happened, but probably only if we split.

Excellent call for educating ourselves on how democracy established & has been taken back in other countries, we are going to just come back from this, it's been building for too long & has gone too far. Please share resources!

The question of what could stop Trump or any other autocrat around the world is an excellent question. This opens up a whole new way of recognizing a problem that has gone on for centuries and is a result of what the U.S. founders formed when they legislated their own preservation of power by way of "the constitution." The origins of the U.S. wasn't collaborative, it was authoritarian. Just like most colonized lands were back when colonies of empires were established. Trump is a result of the white supremacy scourge that is now being protected by the courts and the legislatures. This scourge won't be extinguished overnight.

Let's compare this with dealing with a person embroiled in active addiction and can't or won't see how their behaviour has affected others. The question that needs to be asked is "how are we collectively contributing to this situation?"

Just like the situation with your father, people need to acknowledge what their limits are just like you are doing. Perhaps the ways in which each person is providing safe harbor to Trump due to their own fears of being next on his hit list need to understand that they are not alone. If they decide to attend a protest without the fear of losing their job, their benefits, etc., a support system could be established. Getting into local networks where people are helping other people could enable these groups to form and be sources of potential support if the shit hits the fan.

If or when these groups establish greater legitimacy and visibility to their surrounding communities, I'd bet they'd realize there are more of them than there are of the federal government. Perhaps programs like collectivized free food groups or assistance with maintaining rent or mortgage payments could bring forth the support needed when people need to show up for each other.

If you can't lead one of these groups, get behind someone who CAN. Now is your chance to create a system of human equality that aspires to live by values of truth and reconciliation.

For reference look up this list of folks doing the work. I believe they are scattered around the United States but you may find someone close to home. Thanks for all you do!!

Yes, dealing with aging parent issues is problematic, especially if they are uncooperative. But, how long/far is the drive to your father’s rehab facility? How sentient is he? With my mom, she had pretty bad dementia so it was easy to lie/white lie to her. We just said, the doctor has not authorized her discharge. Her memory was bad so we would go thru this loop each time/day we saw her.

But your father may want to hold his own Bible studies or prayer meeting if he is able. That would he his social group . I take it that when dementia sets in, the rote stuff isn’t lost.

For the 4th of July…celebrating it would be spiritually very difficult when the country is in the state it is… more appropriate would be a mourning, not a celebration.

Yes. I think we’re at the beginning of our 2nd revolution. I’m attaching a timeline of the French Revolution from Wikipedia. We are going to have to fight this in ways other than with speeches.

You are right, Jeff. When the Trump administration engages in fascism and denying our basic rights in a cruel mockery of the basic tenets of democracy, we cannot stand by and wait for distant opportunities to save us. Unilateral actions by MAGA minions are not asking for opinions or upholding established law to monitor their actions. This is, in fact, a VERY CLEAR AND DANGEROUS attack on our Democracy and the rule of law. As citizens are engaging in the soma of sports and streaming entertainment in comfortable certainty that things will turn out okay, our country is relying on propaganda mythology, as Rome is incinerated. Our president can be metaphorically compared to Nero playing his fiddle in complete and utterly passive ignorance of cause and effect in his knee jerk narcissistic pathology of authoritarian control. We must embrace the warnings and act with the same impunity as he is. Unfortunately, people are going to have to connect the dots. Examples, at this point are far too many to list. Disengage from corporate controlled legacy media propaganda and start paying attention. While the judiciary is consumed by frivolous lawsuits we cannot rely on it to address grievances, as cases head to SCOTUS for final opinions by a clear majority of neoconservative justices. It’s akin to dog paddling in the ocean during a hurricane.🌀
