My wife and I moved to Humboldt County within view of the Pacific Ocean about 35 years ago, driven away by climate change from her childhood home of the Monterey Peninsula. We came here specifically for what the Pacific Northwest Coast is known for: clouds, fog, mist, rain, and cooler temperatures without ice or snow. I grew up back east in snowy Pennsylvania and Ohio and hot as crap Alabama so I think this is perfect. I hope you enjoy your relocation.

I feel that we will! I've lived in places with all sorts of weather and it seems like Coastal Oregon or possibly Portland would be the place for us!

I have old friends from my Navy days who loved Portland. Had a great location in Tigard.

I love storms. Living in Connecticut, most of our storms aren't associated with tornadoes b, but watching the wind and lightning has always made me feel calm and relaxed.

Same here! We get a little of those thunderstorms here in Idaho, they always seem awesome to me. &:^)

As you know we are just a little north of Seattle….we enjoy beautiful fresh ocean air, rainy days are great, but we still have beautiful summer days without humidity and mildish winters. We love it here. Retired here 6 years ago from Ontario Canada. Good luck with your move to the north west.

North west coast is awesome

Yes, we've seen Astoria and everything south from there. We love it!

I liked your short podcast. I love your writings, your humor and candor. Originally from Ohio, I moved to Central Florida when I was 27. Now I'm 71 and too old to relocate. The heat and humidity and the stupidity of the redneck mentality is not attractive. Factor in the tropical weather weirdness that has escalated since 2004 and I am no longer a fan. If I could wave a magic wand I'd move somewhere like Illinois where I could have all four seasons again. Maybe in my next life.

I'm glad you enjoy the short versions of them! I like to put them out more often than the 7-10 days it's taking us to get the full-length ones up. Florida, that would be a tough area to live in for me, due to the politics and the severe weather. Stay safe and hang in there, my friend. &:^)

I live in Springfield. The Oregon Coast during winter is pretty cool.

I haven't been during winter, but I bet it is. I'll be happy when I see it for the first time during winter! &:^)

Nice! What part? I've lived in Salem, Klamath Falls, Bend, and Ashland before. Coastal though is calling us. Or Portland. &:^)

Definitely agree with you about rainy days. Here in the east NY/NJ we’ve had nothing but sun since October began. I’m about to lose it

Wow, I'm surprised it's only been sunny there this late in the season. Here's hoping you get some nice rainy weather soon!

I lived in Portland/Vancouver area for years. Liquid sunshine is fine. Crazy big hydrangeas, roses and azaleas. Enjoy the area. We took a trip to the coast about every other weekend. It was so cool.

We sure enjoy Portland, too. I could see us living there. The Japanese Rose Garden was sure fun to tour and photograph!

I love a good storm, but northeast Ohio is not very sunny in the winter. I love the sun and windows and a rainy day and windows. More sun, I'm rambling 🙄

Windows are sure nice to view the different kinds of weather from. Our bedroom is on the 2nd floor of our home, I have a great view when I'm writing my articles! &:^)

Never mind! We have a lot of hot & sun in Southern Oregon. I like it here as I don’t do well with it vercast & rain. Even Seattle & Outland have gotten hotter. We love Brookings for the Chetco effect but we like light & warmer terms than you. If you make it to Ashland would love to meet you!

I lived there once, briefly! Back in the early 90s. Seemed nice back then! &:^)

I like the rain, especially thunderstorms as long as there isn’t a horrid storm. 😂

I’m with you. Love the rain…I believe it’s the Irish in me. Summer not my time of year. Unfortunately I live in west Texas-drought heat and more drought and heat-unless we get a deluge that is all too quickly over. Oh to live in Ireland. My happy place. Green. Greeeen. ::sigh::
