None of this is easy. I'm in my fifties and that's always the reason I'm seeing a doctor on an urgent basis is to deal with my back (and now hip) pain. For now, the episodes are acute not chronic and that's probably a yet for me. Eating the trip sucks. I had delusions of grandeur where I could take my teen with me on a train trip with her fare being free on Via Rail for the summer but in reality I just need to get caught up $$$ on her autism therapies to let her have some fun in summer day camps. Just so you know, your comedy writing cracks me up so hard - so much so that you're content is worth every converted Canadian loonie I toss your way. I'm so glad to get an American's first hand account of what it's like to be a progressive in a red state - the contrast is stark yet so damn entertaining. Please keep it coming and thank you!

Back pain? Is this new? how did it happen? when i was in my 30s, i suddenly had back pain and i thought, shoot i am too young to have this kind of pain…turned out i had an L-shaped desk in my cubicle, which was great for big projects… but it meant i was twisting in my chair in weird stretches to get to different stacks of paper …. my great Dr Chi told me i couldn’t just twist in my SWIVEL chair, i should always keep my knees in front of me as i turn to the side. i needed to fully take advantage of the SWIVEL chair and SWIVEL my entire body, keeping my knees in front of me as i stretch for those barely our of reach items. And Dr. Chi was right, as usual! my pain went away….! i realized the next time i threw out my back shoveling deep snow after a major storm that i had not been following Dr Chi’s advice. i hope that is helpful for you! A few days’ rest and i was back to normal…

I feel the same way. Many similar issues. Just know that YOU and your comments, substack, and podcasts are what is keeping me from going totally insane. Kissinger, Rather, Mary Trump and several others help as well.

But knowing so many put him in power I can’t come to terms with and gives me insomnia.

I don’t drink, smoke or take drugs so no alternative choices to chill out.

Keep calling him out and doing “you”

Christ in a straitjacket deserves his own candle. Lighting one now.

When war drums bang, your back’s a brat, and Daddy Doom is back on TV, it’s no wonder your sanity needs a nap and a shot of whiskey.

You’re not alone.

Even monks like me scream into the void sometimes—then meditate for five minutes and pretend that fixed it.

Keep breathing, Mouthy. Your rage is righteous. Your voice is sacred. And your militia? Blessed.

You will get thru this. It is baby steps especially with your back.Sitting or standing for long periods will make it worse. Walking or in a recliner or lying down for short term to rest the back helps. Alternating heat and ice also helps. 15 min on 30 min off. Hang in there. You are young, my kids age. I am headingg to mid 70's and still going. You can do this.

We hear ya bud. Watching a video of a spanish woman stopping an ice raid and suddenly realized I was yelling at these imitation low rent nazis as though I was standing besides her. LOL

Take a breath. For the love of your own sanity take a break. Do something fun with your family. Universe knows Shiny Orange Shitler and his gang of underdeveloped dicks with oversized egos will unfortunately still be there along with Kunty Krusty Kristi and bleached bombed Blondi.

Afraid the world doesn’t always improve as too many homo “sapiens” are basically jerks. It’s why aliens from outer space don’t visit us.

Hurting emotionally and physically sucks big time.

I've been trying to keep my emotional equilibrium since after the election. THC, Amanita mushrooms, CBD & alcohol help. If somebody sold Trump voodoo dolls they'd make a small freaking fortune. Then be deported.....

Sorry you're still suffering, friend. I wanna say that I don't often listen to podcasts - just not enuf hrs a day to keep up with all the horrors our government is laying on us and other spots on the planet, plus chores required by just plain living. But know I'm thinking of you, and hope that *something* shifts for you soon!

Doesn’t get easier with age, fyi, but some things will. Best of luck to you and your family and thanks for all you do here for all of us💕

I’d like to know why it’s necessary for them to all be masked and otherwise dressed like the criminals that they are ??? This is such bullshit…

So, that said, then why do you have to listen to them or go with them, etc? What gives them the authority to bully people into captivity?

The masked ones are bounty hunters, LARPers and not official anything. Actual law enforcement doesn’t hide their faces and adhere to a dress code.

Yes- relatable! There’s so much primary and secondary trauma going on that we need a national rescue plan much like FEMA but for mental heath.

So many people are overwhelmed, burned out, and sick of the daily corruption, grifting, illegal abductions, unconstitutional acts, greed…. We feel helpless but we have each other. I think it’s so important to unite and share. Thanks for sharing.
