I agree with you…skipped the 4th and prayed for our nation and mourned for the travesties.

I wish that more o the GenZ and milenials saved more of their income for preparation of times like this rather than spending it on pleasures. Life is already expensive but when hard times fall and health and basic necessities falter, that is where the “nest egg” is needed.

Yes, nursing homes are extremely expensive. Have you considered hiring apart time care taker since dad wants to go home. But in thinking that will make him happy, one never knows. The dementia is speaking and that will impact your family’s mental health. You may find that your own blood pressure rising to the point of needing blood pressure meds; my husband did. There is no perfect solution, but I understand that the nursing home costs can and will bleed the family assets dry and not restore your dad’s health. And yes, the patients are always mad at their family, not the staff. So if dad doesn’t have a sense of time, feel free to say that he needs to stay until doctor authorizes discharge. And the staff is trained to help “run interference .” Use them!!

In regard to our other bodies of power, I am not sure they were bribed, but maybe coerced to comply?

Ditto! I feel nothing but nausea on this 4th. I used to deck my porch with Red White and Blue, hang my flag on my garage. Not today!

I thought, as a Brit, that you all had a member of the senate, or Congress, that you voted for? They all seem to be facilitating that orange uneducated idiot you managed to get as president without seemingly voting for him directly. What is anybody doing about their reps, surely their very lucrative positions depend on the local voters? Vote em out again, demand meetings, demand they represent you, not themselves?? Can somebody explain

I’m with you. I can’t stand July 4th. I can remember only about 4 of them that I really enjoyed. I stay home with my kitties and just ignore the fireworks (which are LOUD in NYC) but since I stay calm and just put on a movie or something they stay relaxed. This particular 7/4 is particularly loathsome. Kisses to Libby 😞

Hey Renegade, I'm with you through and through. We will stand strong together. Although, my hubby and I have teased the idea of leaving the USA and not looking back. Also, I do believe that the election was stolen.

Agree also but they said nothing can be done since he was already sworn in🤷 if we ever get outta this the new guy/gal is gonna have to do a ton of executive orders to get rid of some of the other executive orders and # 1 is to defiantly separate all powers and I believe the supreme court should be accused of tyrany and removed from their position! Still think they should reduress as if we don't get to vote it will be too late 😭

I am not celebrating by my usual attendance at fireworks displays, which I love. Because I am gutted about this regime. It's better to stay home with Rain the Cat. Who, actually, does not act stressed about loud noises. But we live in a very rural landscape, and not many loud sounds erupt regularly, surprisingly, except thunder during some storms. Even though we're surrounded by many firearms carriers. May the tyranny of this lawless, depraved regime end quickly. That's what I want for Independence Day.

I used to be proud to be an American. And celebrated Independence Day. No more. And I'm not alone. in 2000 almost all Americans were proud to be citizens of the U.S.A. But a recent pole (25 years later) show that has dropped to 58 percent. I predict it will drop even more in the coming years.

I'm a Veteran and always took pride in my service. Right now, I'm ashamed and alarmed in the direction our country is heading. Gilead was great if you're Commander.

I feel for the military; caught between a rock and a hard place. And it is a fine line to obey by doing the least or facing a discharge for disobedience just because they want to do the right thing: defend The Constitution.

Get your boots on democracy warriors! No more taxation without representation, time to general strike, and call out every last MAGA! They all need to be shamed and treated like the despicable humans they are! The GOP, MAGA and Trump sold out We the People! Take it to the streets, protect your neighbors, know your rights and dissent! 💙💪🤘🇺🇲🗽

Let the fireworks fizzle, darling. There’s nothing to celebrate when the flag is just a cape for cowards.

The Fourth has become a cosplay of freedom while real liberty is bleeding out behind the parade float. Trump’s Big Bullshit Bill isn’t governance. It’s necromancy for the rich, summoning gold from the graves of the poor.

So yeah, fuck the fireworks. I’ll be lighting candles for the fallen and whispering prayers of defiance to the Spirit of 1776, who’s currently weeping into a whiskey barrel.

And bless your Mooch. May she find peace in a country that’s forgotten how to spell it.

I wish you and family the best. I can say there's not much to look forward in celebrating with the current state of governance.

The bigotry and racism is a bit of a nuisance but being a blk woman. ( I'm become used to the level of another being uncivilized) I view it like It's how can you be angry w/ a special needs person whom is incapable of reaching a higher level that's beyond their intellectual or emotional maturity capacity. 🤦🏾‍♀️🗽🧠🫶🏾🗣🇺🇸🎯🧏🏾‍♀️🫱🏻‍🫲🏿👣🫂🤷🏾‍♀️✨️🗽

We will NOT be celebrating Independence Day as we are no longer independent.

We will watch the Twilight Zone marathon. More reality now than fiction. Right?
