The Threat of Being Raped and Killed Over Politics
A Female Writer’s Experience is Much Different Than Mine

I have a favorite female political writer. Jo Carducci is her name. She goes by
here on Substack and on Bluesky. She’s just a treasure. Her writing style and fiery attitude toward Donald Trump and his Cult 45 members are incredible. And MAGA men are threatening to rape and kill her over it.
I’ve followed her closely since I discovered her on Substack about five months ago. I admire and respect her greatly. She’s the closest thing to a female version of me that I’ve seen since becoming a writer. These things in common don’t lie:
She’s Italian: Carducci, Provencio, MARONE!
She’s also 50 years old, just like this mouthy, middle-aged prick.
She mostly writes about politics, specifically how shitty Con-Old Trump and his MAGA minions are.
She catches a lot of hate in the comments section of her articles.
She doesn’t give a fuck about any of that, just as I don’t.
If I had a spirit animal of opinionated, unabashed political writers, it would be JoJo. If we ever attended the same political writer’s convention, I have a feeling the fucks would be flying freely. We’d probably protest a MAGA rally with a few other like-minded, left-leaning writers. Arrests would certainly be possible.
But our scenarios as mouth Renegade Writers are quite different. Jojo’s online experiences and my own differ in several noticeable ways, despite our similarities. Her interactions with cyberhaters have put her in physical danger. See for yourself:
As a man who stands five foot eleven, weighing in at 215 lbs, I do not live with the fear of being physically overpowered. While it’s true that any lunatic with a gun could potentially end my life, at least I’d have a fair shot at defending myself, as a participant of the 2nd amendment. I’m a fairly quick draw and an accurate shot.
Those days of playing Wild Gunman on Nintendo certainly help my cause:
As a sizeable man, I never feel threatened in a public setting. I can handle my own in a fight. If the shit goes down, I’m not at some automatic disadvantage. Unless The Rock decides he doesn’t like the look of this big-nosed Italian writer.
I recognize my privilege in this regard. The worst online “threat” I’ve endured in three years of writing was some MAGA Melvin commenting, “If you get the chance, you should kill yourself.” I’m sure he high-fived himself in his mother’s basement, after “owning a liberal.”
Fuck off, Screech. *Block. The end.
Sadly for JoJo and other female writers, there is real danger involved in being so vocal online. In a recent article, she shared that she’s received threats of being raped and killed. Her home address has been doxxed and made public. She has children and is obviously concerned for their safety.
But she’s not backing the hell down, either.
I’ve never had to file a police report or contact the FBI regarding domestic terrorist mouth-breathers who are playing a dangerous game of “Fuck Around and Find Out.” She’s taken screenshots and filed police reports of these threats she’s received. She’s not backing down to any limp-dicked, Trump-worshipping pieces of shit in the least.
Good for her. I cannot imagine the bravery required to not be silenced as a middle-aged woman who could certainly be overpowered by most men. I have to assume she’s armed and dangerous in her own home. And rightly so.
Thank Christ for our “God-Given” right to bear arms, eh Ammophiles?
The fact that I’ve never received a death threat and never had a MAGA man threaten to rape me speaks volumes about the types of online predators that surf among us. Most are sexist, misogynistic “men.” Ones who are trying to instill fear into women who have the stones to stand up against fascism, racism, bigotry, and all of the other deplorable things that Trump supporters embrace.
And most of them are chickenshit cowards hiding behind screens.
Still, one can’t assume that they all are. By being prepared and taking precautions, JoJo and women like her refuse to be bullied into silence. They will continue fighting the good fight, protecting their homes, and standing up against these petty, angry incel men. Ones who feel they have a right to a woman’s thoughts, actions, bodies, and whatever other delusional bullshit they feel entitled to.
You’d think that being on the winning side of the 2024 election would be enough for them. Why worry about what an opinionated, political writer thinks about their demagogue who, in reality, equates to 10 lbs of shit stuffed in a 5 lb sack? Shouldn’t they be busy rejoicing about ‘Murica being GREAT again?
Nope, not good enough, evidently. This is because they are insecure about their own beliefs.
I’ve heard the expression that men’s biggest fear in life is being laughed at. And that a woman’s biggest fear is being raped or killed. These two things are so pathetically unequal, it’s ridiculous.
But so is the state of America. As 2025 and a second Trump presidential term looms ahead, we need to recognize how much work needs to be done to combat fascism, racism, sexism, and misogyny. It is unacceptable for men to be sending messages of violence, rape, and death to women. No matter what women are writing about and who they are criticizing.
It’s a sick, divided world out there. Keep your head on a swivel. Know your enemy. And never take any bullshit from anyone. When you cower in fear of bullies and assholes, you’re losing the war.
JoJo, keep doing what you’re doing. And calling out these sick fucks who think terrorizing women is their right. We stand with you and won’t tolerate this bullshit from these scared, pathetic little boys hiding behind screens.

JoJo's the fucking best. I love her attitude and lack of fucks given. Great article!
Jojo keep writing and putting your message out there. We women have your back and appreciate all you do
