It’s emblematic of the Democratic Party’s chronic inability to unite—and stay united—around a common goal. That fracture is how we got here in the first place. Thank you for this post and for reminding us of the consequences.

Next step: find a leader who can inspire resolve, catalyze unity, and help us release our grip on special interests. Someone who can stop the hand-wringing and start the work of reclaiming our democracy.

Hi Renegade Writer, thank you for your rage and grief, I am feeling that too. I hope your day got better after this post and your family had a great birthday celebration. 🙏🏻

It surprises me that Dick Durbin and Tim Caine caved. Damn them, anyway.

I think I need to step away from all of this I’m disgusted with all of this.

Susie S's avatar

That's okay, Jana, we must take a break with all this crap for our mental health, but please don't stop paying attention! In fact, if you're active as in making signs and protesting, sending out postcards to swing States, it makes you feel like you're doing something and you are!! Find something in your area that you can do to help our cause, and believe me, it will help heal your psyche!! It has for me and so many others and we mustn't be quiet!

OUR SILENCE IS COMPLACENCY!!! PLEASE, DO NOT DO THAT. USE YOUR VOICE IN WHATEVER WAY YOU'RE COMFORTABLE WITH.

😒 I want to say I’m surprised by this turn of events, but then I remember that John Fetterman and Jacky Rosen are Republicans in disguise and their voting record with Republicans in the Senate proves it. Fetterman’s voting record in particular has been a down right slap in the face to everyone that voted for him. From voting to nominate RFK Jr…… let that sink in for a moment. To his continuous support for the genocide in Gaza. I swear that man is a mole placed by Trump and Republicans to “bill block” his own party any chance he gets. The infuriating part of all this is the fact that public opinion was on Dems side in this fight, but as always those 8 have always voted in favor of the few instead of the many.

Yes, I do agree that the insurance support needs to be passed. The one thing that could be a positive in this is that the bill has to go back the the House, forcing them to go back to work. As soon as that occurs Representative Elect Grijalva will be required to be sworn in giving them 218 votes on Epstein. Could that be Trump’s end?

We Can Only Hope, As a lifelong Democrat who has crossed over the party line before, I am so sick of My Party Kissing The Asses of the Right Wing Racists, They make me sick. The Democratic Party has never lost a Election ,they give it AWAY. Grow Some Ball's and get down in the GUTTER and FIGHT THESE BASTARDS. FDT

Hopefully the grim reaper doesn’t get tripped up in the east wing demolition.

That’s right. People are suffering but dems should not have caved , because the repugs will not negotiate on ACA subsidies.

Ronald Whisner SR.'s avatar

What a DISGRACE that is.

The thing that frightens me, and it literally just occurred to me whilst listening, when the Tangerine Nightmare passes MAGA is going to act like he was martyred. They'll turn him into St. Syphilis, if you will.

But reg people will be dancing in the streets! By-by lil rumpie!

All that, and the orangeturd is STILL filing appeals to avoid paying full SNAP benefits. Beginning to wonder if there's any Treasury left except to pay icehole terrorists.

Good question!

Bernie delivered a fiery speech before voting "NFW". Of course, he's not technically a Democrat, but he's the role model they should all be following. I wish he were president, but nooooooooo, he was "too old". Never mind that he's 1000 times sharper than Trumpkopf ever was. {{Sigh}}!

I phoned Fetterman's office to ask him what was wrong with him. Why has he changed since becoming a Senator, and how disappointed I am in his vote with Repuglicans.

I also phoned my California Senators to thank them for voting no.
